1992
Knight Auto was founded
Knight Auto was established in Singapore with a commitment to precision engineering and quality manufacturing for the semiconductor industry. What began as a small operation soon earned trust from global OEMs for its reliability and performance.
2000
Building a Global Customer Base
With growing demand, Knight Auto expanded its offerings to include components for chip testing and assembly, supplying to some of the world’s largest Integrated Device Manufacturers (IDMs) and Outsourced Semiconductor Assembly and Test (OSAT) providers.
2018
Industry Recognition
Knight Auto received the Singapore 500 SME Award, reinforcing its position as a trusted solutions provider in the semiconductor space.
2020–2022
Full Value Chain Integration
The company evolved to support customers across the entire semiconductor value chain, offering end-to-end solutions from design and prototyping to final testing and assembly.
2023
Templewater Acquisition
Private equity firm Templewater I, L.P. acquired a majority stake in Knight Auto, recognizing its blue-chip customer base, strong design capabilities, and leadership in backend semiconductor solutions. The partnership is set to drive Knight Auto’s next phase of global expansion and innovation.
2024
Leadership Transition
Founder James Boo transitioned to the role of Senior Advisor in Templewater, while Fatt Chye Low, formerly general manager at UTAC with 25 years of experience, was appointed as CEO of Knight Auto.
This leadership shift ensures continuity of culture while driving strategic global growth.
2025
Acquisition of Champion
Knight Auto acquired Champion Precision Manufacturing, a Singapore-based specialist in components for semiconductor bonding machines and wafer testing.
The deal broadens Knight Auto’s portfolio, enabling more comprehensive frontend testing and assembly services worldwide.
